Useful steps for finding a role, preparing an application and checking a job opportunity before you commit.

Start with a focused search

Choose two or three job titles that fit your experience. Search those terms in our job listings, then compare the responsibilities and required skills. If the same requirement appears again and again, make it easy to find in your CV.

Make your application easy to read

A good CV gives the employer a quick picture of what you have done. Put your recent experience first, use plain job titles and describe results with specific examples. Our resume tips explain how to edit a CV for a particular vacancy without adding claims you cannot support.

Prepare for the conversation

Before an interview, reread the job description and note two or three examples from your work that match it. Check the location and interview format, and prepare a question about the role. See our interview preparation guide for a practical checklist.

Check the offer carefully

Confirm the employer’s identity and read the pay, duties, location and working arrangements before agreeing. A genuine opportunity should not require you to pay for a job offer. If a message pressures you to send money or documents immediately, pause and verify it through an official channel.
