A Simple Way to Track Your UAE Job Applications
When you apply for several jobs, the details start to blur. You may remember the employer but forget which version of your CV you sent. Then a recruiter calls and you have to search through your inbox while trying to understand the role.
A small application tracker can prevent that. You can use a spreadsheet, a notes app or a notebook. The best option is the one you will update consistently.

Record only the information you will use
Begin with these fields: job title, employer, vacancy link, application date, application method, current stage and next action. Add the CV filename if you tailor your CV for different roles. A contact name can be useful when it comes from a genuine hiring conversation.
Keep a short note about why the role fits. “Customer enquiries and order tracking; similar to current duties” will be more useful later than “good job.” Avoid filling the tracker with private documents or information you do not need.
Use clear, consistent stages
Choose a small set of labels such as To Review, Applied, Interview, Closed and Withdrawn. If you prefer fewer labels, that is fine. What matters is knowing which applications need action and which are finished.
Do not mark an application as rejected simply because you have not heard back. “Applied — no update” describes what you know. You can still move your attention to other opportunities.

Write the next action as a task
“Follow up” is vague. “Check the portal after the stated closing date” or “Confirm the interview address” tells you what to do. If an employer gives a date, record it exactly. If there is no promised timeline, avoid treating a reminder you set yourself as an employer commitment.
For an interview, note the format, time and any documents requested. Use our interview preparation guide to check the practical details before the meeting.
Keep the CV version with the application
Save tailored CVs with useful filenames. For example, a name, role and date can make the right version easy to find. Make sure the file in your tracker matches the one you actually submitted.
Before reusing a CV, check that it still describes your current experience and matches the new vacancy. Our resume tips explain how to adapt a CV without turning every application into a complete rewrite.

Review your list regularly
Set aside a short period to check upcoming interviews, unanswered questions and vacancies you saved but have not assessed. Close entries when the employer confirms the role is filled or when you decide not to proceed. Keep useful notes about what you learned.
If many applications lead nowhere, look for patterns before increasing the number you send. Are you applying to roles with clear qualification gaps? Is your CV missing the tasks mentioned in the listing? Use the tracker to improve your decisions rather than judging yourself by the number of rows.
Protect the information
Keep the file somewhere you control and avoid sharing it publicly. You do not need passport numbers, bank details or copies of identity documents in an application tracker. If you share a sample with a friend for advice, remove contact details and private employer messages first.
